Welcome!

Thanks for checking out our brand new blog! It will be a constant work in progress, so please check back often for updates about what is happening in Children's ministries at FPC-Kingwood.

Below is the news and info about Children's ministries from our August newsletter:

What’s Happening in Children’s Ministries…

Sunday School Teachers
During child baptisms our congregation makes the commitment “to guide and nurture...by word and deed, with love and prayer, encouraging them to know and follow Christ and to be faithful members of His church”.

All parents of children age 2 years through 4th grade are asked to prayerfully consider how they will be involved in their child’s Sunday school class during the 2009-2010 school year.

There are a variety of ways to get involved – from teaching and/or assisting in a Sunday school class, to setting up for special events, to taking home supplies to sort and prepare.

Our hope is to have every parent (and then some!) participating in children’s ministry at FPC-K. Sign ups volunteers will be in the Sunday school classrooms beginning in August.

Promotion Sunday
Promotion Sunday is August 30, 2009! Children 2 year through 4th grade will ‘move up’ to their appropriate grade level Sunday school class. Join us in getting to know your child’s Sunday school teacher(s) for 2009-2010 when you take your child(ren) to their ‘new’ class!

Teacher Training
In kicking off the 2009-2010 Sunday school classes, there will be a teacher training (and lunch) on Sunday, August 23 at 12:15 p.m. We will have a brief message from Dr. Jim Davis, an in-service on our curriculum and resources, and time for you to meet with your team and plan your schedule.

For those who have not seen the Child Protection video, the 20 minute video will be shown at the end of the meeting. This film and background check are mandatory for all adults who work with children in our church.

Can’t make it on August 23rd? A make up training will be offered September 21 at 5:30 pm. Participants are invited to stay for the Children’s Discipleship meeting at 7pm following the training.

Childcare will be provided for both training opportunities, but we ask you to make a reservation so that we will have the appropriate staff to accommodate your children.

Children’s Stewardship Boxes Returned – August 30th
THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE STICKERS ON THE BOXES
Reminder for children 2 years thru 4th grade! Don’t forget to bring your stewardship box to church Sunday, August 30th – they will be brought forward during the 9:45 worship service.

Children 2 years thru 4th grade returned their offering boxes early this year during Palm Sunday services, and over $200 was received through this offering! Proceeds go to Compassion International—a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working to overcome poverty and injustice.

New boxes were sent home during Sunday school and Kids’ Church. Additional boxes are available in the church office.

Teacher Dedication
Sunday Sept. 13th will be Teacher Dedication Sunday. All Sunday School teachers and children’s ministry volunteers will be asked to stand up in place during their worship service and will be recognized for their service to the church.
